Coffee and Conversations #7

promptjournal -Coffee and Conversations

Welcome to the next post in the Coffee and Conversations Series. In case you missed the previous posts we have started this series to capture and share advice shared by some of the inspirational women in our personal lives.  In each of these posts, we will write about some of the key takeaways that resonated with us and that we thought might help others and help inspire further conversations in your own personal network.

Be the change you want to create.

Realistically, we cannot wait around for change to happen. This is in the context of equal pay, diversity and inclusion and equality and of course technological innovation. We all want change, but we need to be pro-active about making it happen.

There is a part of me that is fed up of being the ‘champion of change’, driving things forward and having the same conversations over and over. There are days I want to give up. However, when I talk with others they inspire me to keep going, both because of the inspiration they give me in what they have fought to achieve and also in the fact, that they are supportive in what I am trying to achieve and reminding me that there are others relying on me to create change.

Yes it might be me fighting for change, and yes there are times I might feel alone, or like it is not worth it or that I am never going to achieve anything but I am wrong. My network reminds me of this. My network reminds me to keep fighting and to inspire others to fight with me. To just get on with it and bring everyone along with me. To walk the talk and do it authentically.

So if you are wondering whether you can inspire change and whether you should – just get started and go for it.
