Welcome to the next post in the Coffee and Conversations Series. In case you missed the previous posts we have started this series to capture and share advice shared by some of the inspirational women in our personal lives. In each of these posts, we will write about some of the key takeaways that resonated with us and that we thought might help others and help inspire further conversations in your own personal network.
Set Boundaries (and discuss them with others)
As it is a new year it is a great time to take control of your life and set some boundaries. Different people that I talk to set boundaries in different ways, whether it is a self-imposed rule, or something specific that they agree with their boss/employer.
For some people, this might be their working hours when they work, when they leave the office or when they check their emails. For others, this might be with a physical reminder for others such as setting an out of office during their non-working hours. It might be proactive such as saying no.
Setting boundaries is an important way to take control of your self and your life. It is not about being selfish or demanding – it is about being open and honest and, in most cases, having a dialogue.
