Welcome to the next post in the Coffee and Conversations Series. In case you missed the previous posts we have started this series to capture and share advice shared by some of the inspirational women in our personal lives. In each of these posts, we will write about some of the key takeaways that resonated with us and that we thought might help others and help inspire further conversations in your own personal network.
How did you speak to yourself today?
At the moment we are all prone to negative thoughts, for overpersonalising things, for jumping to conclusions and think habitual negative thoughts. It is our brain’s way of trying to give us some certainty during these uncertain times. Unfortunately, this can have a negative impact on our mental health and wellbeing and our relationships.
You may be finding that you are overthinking things, being self-critical and not being kind to ourselves during this stressful and uncertain time (even if we are carrying on “as usual”. One thing stood out to me in recent conversations.
Think about how you are speaking to yourself and compare this to how you would speak to a colleague or some on you care about. Are you being over-critical? Are you being supportive? Be kinder to yourself and show yourself the kindness and support that you show to others. Let go of what you can’t control (and more importantly don’t beat yourself up over it!)
