Free-Writing

promptjournal(33)As with any journalling habit we encourage career journalists to free-write in their journal on a regular basis. This helps you to record the good stuff (even if it is messy) as and when it happens. This helps it to be more authentic and honest and avoid self editing.

It is all good.

Your free-writing topics should include things around your general career and act as a log. (e.g. what you did that week – diary style) and also contribute to your overarching career goals. For example you might include:

  • What did I learn today?
  • Learning Points
  • Conversations I had.

It can be useful to write both your Career Goals and your list of personal prompts at the beginning of your free-writing journal to help get your started (and also make it convenient to refer to).
