M is for… Mid Year

M is for… Mid Year

As part of your appraisal process you should carry out a mid-year review (whether this is a formal review or a self-evaluation it doesn’t matter). As part of this review you should identify where you are in terms of your current goals… and where you want to get to.

You will also want to assess whether you are doing enough to stand out or if you need to be doing something more (or something different). Examples might include:

  • taking on new responsibities;
  • increasing your value
  • learning new skills
  • going the extra mile
  • doing an extra-credit project
  • sharing a new idea and getting it of the ground
  • volunteering for a new initiative
  • demonstrating leadership skills.

Write your own list of things that you need to do between you mid-year and your end of year appraisal.

Finally, don’t forget that a review of any mid-year review you carried out before the real thing will also need to be carried out.
