U is for… Understanding
Getting on well in a new job or role is all about understanding!
- Understanding what you want out of the job (and communicating this effectively).
- Understanding what your company (and/or boss) want you to do and achieve.
- Understanding what gaps you need to fill or what your colleagues need or want from you and where you slot into the team.
- Understanding why you do things in a particular way, what you can change.
- Understanding where the company has come from and where it is going to.
Action Point: ask questions and improve your understanding – keep a record of it in your Career Journal.
